Low casualties
The news from London is that there were no major casualties except for one injury and one suspect shot to death. This is good news if one thinks only in terms of numbers because there is hardly any large scale massacre like what one witnessed a fortnight ago in London and a week later in Iraq.
So it's good to know that our prayers have been answered and that we didn't have to witness another tragedy. However, this news is, also, a clear demonstration of the 'fallen' nature of the world we live in. It is a reminder that this world is not the 'heaven' that utopians talk about and neither does it possess the 'ideal' structures to sustain itself on a long-term basis. The world does not need another economic or political revolution, more democracy, market reforms to free itself from this terrorism trap.
It needs the gospel to redeem its fallen nature and get serious about repentance. This is not a narrow vision but a necessary goal for this our world.
